Samoyed

Samoyeds are descended from hardworking and hardy Siberian spitz dogs used by their nomadic owners to herd and guard flocks of reindeer. They lived closely with their human masters, sharing their tents, and remain very affectionate dogs today. Samoyeds need plenty of exercise, and their spectacular coats shed throughout the year.
Breed Category
Working Dog
Temperament
These affectionate dogs are alert and intelligent, and love to play. Obedience training is advisable from an early age to curb their naturally strong will. They are usually good with children.
Appearance
The Samoyed's thick, soft undercoat is covered by a rougher, weather-resistant outer coat. A ruff frames the small, finely chiseled head, with its well-defined features, dark eyes, and black nose. The ears are set wide apart and are small and erect. With strong shoulders and muscular bodies, Samoyeds have long, bushy tails that curl over their backs.
