Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Probably developed in the twelfth century as a cattle dog, the ancestors of Pembroke Corgis may have been brought to western Wales from Holland by Flemish weavers.  They are practical dogs with plenty of stamina for a day's work nipping at the heels of cattle.

Low set, the Pembroke is intelligent with a foxy expression.  The coat is of medium length, with a coarser outer coat.  Colors are red, sable, fawn, and black and tan, with or without a white flash.  The Pembroke sheds heavily and should be brushed at least twice a week.
