Kuvasz

The Hungarian Kuvasz is descended from the herding and guarding dogs used by nomadic shepherds in the Tibetan region during the Middle Ages. Many medieval European rulers kept these dogs as their companions.

A natural watchdog, the Kuvasz is suspicious of strangers and very protective of its human family. These dogs are independent and require firm handling by an experienced owner.
Appearance
The Kuvasz is a large, muscular, and powerful dog. The broad neck supports a large head with a wedge-shaped muzzle. The black nose and dark eyes contrast with snowy hair on the face. Ears frame the face, hanging forward from high on the head. the profuse white coat is composed of a medium-coarse topcoat over a fine undercoat. The body is slightly longer than it is high, with well-muscled limbs and a long, bushy tail.

Things to Consider
Profuse shedding, high-maintenance grooming, and difficulty in obedience training are characteristic of this breed.
