Havanese

Related to the Bichon family of small dogs, which originated in the Mediterranean, today's Havanese is descended from the dogs that were brought to Cuba, where they served as pampered pets of the wealthy. These dogs were also known as Habeneros and as "White Cubans." The breed eventually declined, but was revived when three Havanese-owning families moved to the US, where the breed has grown steadily in popularity.
