English Foxhound

The English Foxhound is a long-established breed, dating from at least the thirteenth century. These dogs possess great energy and stamina and are capable of running ceaselessly for a full day in the field.

Hound
Temperament
English Foxhounds are loyal and gentle, reliable with children, and excellent as watchdogs. Their pack and hunting instincts are, however, very strong, and they are difficult to train; barking or howling and chasing small animals are particular behavioral problems.
Appearance
Rugged and robust, English Foxhounds have bodies adapted for both speed and stamina, with deep chests and powerful legs. They have square muzzles, keen brown or hazel eyes, and attentive expressions. Their large ears are carried close to the cheeks. The coat is glossy and short and usually tricolor.
