Australian Terrier

The tenacity of these small, spirited dogs belies their size. Australian Terriers were bred as farm dogs, and they are apparently scared of nothing. One of the smallest of the working terriers, the Australian Terrier was bred as a worker and companion, and it is able to navigate rough terrain.
Breed Category
Terrier
Temperament
Willing to take on small vermin and snakes, Australian Terriers are also unafraid of confrontations with larger dogs, and they seem to especially enjoy teasing cats. However, these dogs are generally friendly and affectionate companions and they respond well to training. They also make good watchdogs.
Appearance
Australian Terriers have rough, untrimmed coats that are either blue and tan, or all red. The hair on the head is a little softer. They have dark, intelligent eyes and pointed ears that stand erect on top of the head. The body is long in relation to its height, and the feet are small and compact with black toenails.
